You cannot make your hair lighter with a semi permanent haircolor. Semi permanent cannot lighten, it can only deposit. The best way to make your hair a little lighter and be low maintenance would be to have your hairdresser add a few highlights around your face and in your bang area. Not too many, just 4 - 6 foils. This is a very economical way to have highlights done professionally. A 1/2 head is much more costly than just asking for a few to frame your face.

Semi-permanent color is not good to use if you are trying to go lighter.

use preference in dark blond. trust me this comes out just a shade darker than the box at first but lightens up

Semi-permanent colors won't lighten your hair. And if you have color on your hair, most permanent colors won't lighten either. If you have color on your hair, you can go to a salon and see if they can remove the color from your hair. It doesn't always work completely, but it may help a little, and then you could use a permanent color to lighten your hair.
