Take a small section of hair up in your hand - say a 2" section.. Hold the hair up away from the scalp by the ends and using a comb or small brush, gently stroke through the hair BACKWARDS toward the scalp. Do this a few times, then move to the next section. When all hair is back combed, gently smooth over the top without brushing the teasing out.

i pretty much have hair like that. what i did was go to the salon and asked for layers, and gave them a picture of a scene kid. they did it bad, so basically i messed it up on my own. that is how you get scene hair. just brush your hair front from the back center, and then cut real short back there so its kinda like a mullet. [the way i did it anyway. my friend has similar hair] but wait for more people's suggestions, i don't want to be the cause of something bad

With layered hair, start toward the back of the top of your head and tease one section at a time, then. comb the very front of the layer to not look so messy!

If your hair is very soft use some texturizing paste...pantene makes a great one!

Just a heads up, this looks better on people with layers.

First, use a body-building shampoo. If you have fine hair, apply conditioner to the ends of your hair only. Rinse your hair and apply some type of strong hold mousse from the roots of your hair to the ends, then blow dry and lift sections of your hair while you are drying it to create fullness. Straighten your hair with a ceramic straigtener but make sure to apply some type of spray to protect your hair from the heat, else it will become damaged from repeated use.

Now, for the teasing...

Lift a section of your hair and hold it firmly with one hand. With your other hand, insert the comb halfway between roots and ends and push the comb towards the roots. Do this all over, then place a small dab of Pantene Texture %26amp; Shine Defining Pomade (found at Wal*Mart) into the palm of your hands. Clap your hands together 2-3 times, then lift up one section of your hair at a time and place the pomade underneath and run your fingertips from roots to ends. The pomade holds your hair in place but don't apply too much or it will appear greasy.

You will need: thickening shampoo, a towel, a brush, strong hold spray (or gel for short hair), a bold, bright hair accessory or clip from somewhere like Hot Topic or LoveBites and Bruises.

1 - use thickening shampoo

2 - roughly towel dry or leave to dry naturally

3 - when dry, tip head upsidedown, brush hair from tip to root (backbrush) in areas you want to look poofty.

4 - before lifting your head back up, generously spray with holding spray or run gel through it, allow it to dry for a moment.

5 - lift head up, use styling gel or wax to work hair to suit your style/face shape.

6. add a cute acessory e.g. a clip, bow or head band from Hot Topic or LoveBites and Bruises.

Note - this is bad for your hair, as it makes it brittle, and therefore it breaks easily, so don't do it all the time. :)
